Radonix CAM-Pro Commissioning Guide

Radonix Axis Calibration & Motion Verification

A shared commissioning guide for every Radonix machine interface: match commanded motion to real travel, configure servo electronic gearing, calibrate every active axis and verify repeatable positioning.

500 KHZ MAXIMUMALL ACTIVE AXESLOCATION 1 / 217 INTERFACE CONTROLS
SHARED GUIDEUse this procedure for 2-axis, 3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis, 6-axis and Jewelry interfaces. Repeat the measured workflow independently for every active axis.
Commissioning safety: verify axis direction before calibration, use a safe jog speed, clear the complete travel path, prevent collisions, and keep a readily accessible emergency stop. Refer to the servo-drive manual before changing electronic gear parameters.
CALIBRATION VIDEO WALKTHROUGH

From Measured Travel to Verified Motion

Watch the complete Radonix calibration workflow, then use the controlled procedure below for each active axis. The video starts at the relevant section.

01

Electronic Gear Ratio

Each Radonix axis can output up to 500,000 pulses per second. The servo drive’s encoder resolution, command-pulse setting, target RPM and mechanical transmission determine the required pulse frequency.

160,000 pulse/rev × 2,000 rev/min
÷ 60 = 5,333,333 pulse/s
5,333,333 ÷ 500,000 ≈ 10.66

Configure a practical numerator/denominator ratio in the servo drive, then calibrate the axis in CAM-Pro. Delta drives commonly use parameters such as P1-44 and P1-45, but parameter numbers vary by manufacturer and model.

02

Calibration Preconditions

  • Controller online and selected axis ready.
  • Positive and negative movement directions verified.
  • Fixed reference point selected and kept unchanged.
  • Long, unobstructed measurement travel available.
  • Measurements taken in millimeters from the same reference.
  • Safe velocity selected and emergency stop available.

Repeat the procedure independently for every active axis.

03

Machine Axis Calibration Procedure

Select the axis and confirm directionChoose X, Y or Z and verify that positive and negative jog match the machine coordinate system.
Establish a fixed referenceSelect a reliable surface or datum that will remain unchanged during the complete test.
Measure Location 1Measure the initial distance from the fixed reference and enter it in Location 1.
Start and move the axisPress Start, then jog over the longest practical safe distance to reduce measurement error.
Measure Location 2After the axis stops, measure from the same reference and enter the final value in Location 2.
Calibrate and verifyPress Calibrate to calculate the new Step coefficient, then run a second measured move to confirm accuracy.

04

Worked Example

For an X-axis calibration, assume the initial distance is 73 mm. Enter 73 in Location 1, press Start and move the X-axis over a long safe distance. If the final distance is 1722 mm, enter 1722 in Location 2.

The software calculates the actual travel difference and corrects the Step coefficient. Repeat for Y and Z, then verify each axis with another measured movement.

05

Verification Rules

  • Location 1 is always the initial measurement.
  • Location 2 is always the final measurement.
  • Both measurements must use the same fixed reference.
  • Longer travel reduces measurement error.
  • Repeat any axis with a significant residual error.
  • Document the approved Step value and electronic gear settings.
