Radonix Controller Installation Guide

Controller Wiring & Safety Manual

A structured field reference for electrical-panel placement, power, communication, digital and analog I/O, axis connections, handwheel and RS485 wiring across Radonix PC-Pro and PC-Smart controllers.

Electrical safety: isolate and verify all power sources before wiring. Keep high-voltage and low-voltage routes separated, follow the installed controller and drive documentation, and have final panel wiring checked by a qualified industrial electrician.
01

Panel Placement & Noise Control

Install the controller on the electrical-panel rail with its protective cover and base. Maintain at least 5 cm clearance from nearby ducts, cables and components on every side.

  • Reserve a separate low-voltage area for the controller.
  • Keep inverters, drives and high-voltage cables away from the controller and communication path.
  • Use the shortest practical route for high-voltage wiring.
  • Do not route Ethernet or analog cables beside noisy power wiring.
02

Communication & Power

LAN communication

PC-Pro LAN and PC-Smart controllers use standard TCP/IP Ethernet. Use CAT5 or CAT6 cable up to 30 m and protect the route from high-voltage cables, impact and pressure.

PC-PRO SUPPLY18-28 VDC
PC-SMART SUPPLY12-24 VDC
RECOMMENDED24 V switching supply

Calculate the current of the controller and every relay, valve, brake and other 24 V load, then add a suitable reliability margin.

03

Digital Inputs

Digital inputs are identified as I.[n] and are optically isolated. Set the controller input-mode switch to match the connected sensor or device.

NPNSink / Low active
PNPSource / High active
CHECKCommon and polarity

Confirm the PC-Pro or PC-Smart connection diagram before energizing because common-terminal wiring differs by mode.

04

Digital Outputs

Outputs are identified as O.[n]. PC-Pro outputs are NPN low-active/open-collector outputs with short-circuit and thermal protection; PC-Smart outputs are relay outputs.

PC-PROApprox. 300 mA
PC-SMART1 A relay contact
HIGH LOADSUse an interposing relay

Never parallel PC-Pro outputs to obtain more current. Connect PLCs, inverters and peripheral equipment to a common or mutually bonded ground as specified in the source diagrams.

05

Analog, PWM & Analog Inputs

PC-Pro controllers expose AO.[n] and PWM.[n]; PC-Smart models provide 0-10 V analog channels. Analog connections are high impedance and noise-sensitive.

  • Keep analog cables away from strong-voltage and noisy components.
  • Use twisted-pair or multi-core cable, not single loose conductors.
  • Do not apply more than 10 V to an analog output.
  • Analog inputs are available only on applicable PC-Smart controllers.
06

Axis DB15 Connection

Active axes connect to servo or stepper drives through the 15-pin axis connector.

Pins Signal Purpose
1 +VCC Controller source voltage, maximum 100 mA
2-3 Direction – / + Differential direction output
4-5 Pulse – / + Differential pulse output
6 Servo On NPN output; not used for stepper systems
7 Servo Ready NPN optically isolated readiness input
8 Encoder Zero Encoder reference input on applicable PC-Smart models
9 Alarm Reset NPN output for clearing a resolved drive alarm
10-15 GND Signal ground connections
07

Handwheel & RS485

PC-Pro controllers, except the Pro LAN 3AS model, use a 9-pin connector for handwheel and RS485 communication. PC-Smart models use separate handwheel and RS485 connectors. A compatible handwheel uses a 5 V encoder with differential outputs; RS485 communication uses the A.485 and B.485 lines.

When an open-collector handwheel encoder is used on applicable PC-Pro models, follow the source manual’s HW.A+, HW.B+ and +5 V wiring. Connect remaining handwheel selector switches through suitable digital inputs.
